Nancy and Sherry

Nancy and Sherry were otherwise known as "the Batcave Girls." They didn't exist outside of nightclubs. Nancy was a small and quiet Greek girl. Sherry was the blonde, and probably the more immediately attractive between the two.

Nancy was the easier one to paint, her features were more distinctive. She just needed a fleshy nose, her shy composure, heavy make-up, and that hair-do that looked something like Prince Valiant in a Prince Valiant wig. But at the time that I did this I couldn't place Sherry's features. I tried different things to come up with a likeness and nothing seemed to work. Part of the problem was that I'd never actually seen her in the light, but then again, no one else had either. I cheated the thing by giving her a hair-do that covered most of her face.

I unveiled this thing at a group show, the same one where I first showed the painting of Wayne Coyne. Sherry told me soon afterwards that it had really freaked her out since she had gotten her hair cut in exactly that fashion the day before the show. Lucky for me, I suppose.

I've heard that Nancy has done well in Boston and other eastern cities in the restaurant business. Sherry took up stripping and eventually fell into prostitution in Guam. Unfortunately she was killed by a violent client in about 2001 or so.
