Portrait of David Dryden

Dryden was something like a tall elf. He had bushy hair and an impish face. His eyes got beadier the wider he smiled, as though his own happiness was proportionate to the amount of evil on his mind, which, knowing him like I do now, was pretty much the truth. He lived in the next building around the corner from me. In this he is passing by the Episcopal church that sat across the corner from me.

I like this one because it's so gray, I was very sparce with my color. There is a good example of my obsessive found object application, although it's not obvious on the image. To the far right is a sign outside of an apartment building. It's formed from an actual scrap of wood, and the wood for it came from a sign outside of the building that had just been taken down. The apartment building itself has long since burned down, like most of the old browstones in that area. Another bit of collage is in the newspaper vending machine. The image on the newspaper is a Max Ernst drawing that Dryden had used on a rock show flier that he'd made.
