Portrait of Mary Smith

I'd been doing several paintings that incorporated more symbolism around this time, and really just wanted to do something straight and simple. Mary was a girl that had been brought around to parties at my house, and I began to see her out at the nightclubs often. At this time she seemed to be very fashion conscious. She was usually dressed nice and always had a hat on. Some of us called her "Hat Mary." For other reasons others called her "Acid Mary." But I liked Mary and she still remains one of my good friends.
