Christus 777

Chris Snipes published a 'zine called "Purge," under the pseudonym of "Christus 777." He lived just a half block south of me, and one night I heard the firetrucks out on the street, and knew the emergency was just around his house, but I never got up to look since I was involved in some project, and that's just how concentrated I get. My friend Tim Kearns arrived at the door to tell me that it was Chris's house that was burning, but no one had been able to find Chris. I walked a block over to Diana's house to see if she knew where Chris might be but she didn't, and from that point I just stood on the sidewalk watching the house burn, and the firemen fighting it.

Chris lived in an apartment on the second floor, front, the one with the Temple ov Psychic Youth cross in the window, and it was a little humorous to watch the firemen throw one television set after another out of the window and to the ground. Chris's place was very small, and there was no room for much in it, but he did have about three TVs all stacked up on top of each other.

I was still standing there when Chris came along with Anne Winter, and when he saw his house burned his first inclination was to run towards it. Of course, the firemen kept him back, and at that point he faced away from it, lit a cigarette, and visited with me. And there you have this painting.
