Serenade

My parents had several very interesting items. My father had a collection of antique toys and my mother had a collection of piano figurines. In their last years they each sold off much of their collections since they needed the income, and because they had the view that “you can’t take it with you.” I had the opportunity to claim anything that I wanted from their collections, but there are some things that got away. A favorite piece from my mom’s collection was a small ceramic of a wolf playing piano for a woman. It was a very intricate piece, and a much more delicate and attractive thing than what I have produced. But it was my memory of this thing, along with an interest in the southern legend of the Loup Garou, that inspired this painting.
