Succubus
Just prior to moving to Chicago I had a nightmare that I described at the time as a Succubus encounter. Hardly surprizing that the Succubus looked to me like an old girlfriend. However that may be, praying mantis's are well known for their odd sexual behavior in that the female bites the head off of the male in the act of copulation. What better association to make with a Succubus, or any type of a vampiric woman?
Although I was in a satisfactory relationship at the time, I'd known less satisfying experiences, and doesn't it always happen that it's those experiences that are more inspiring? So this is mainly reactive to those situations in which a guy has a sneaky suspicion that he's not fully aware of the compromising situation that he's in. Artistically speaking, this is something of a companion to the Incubus painting by Fuseli.
