Seven Deadly Sins
This was my first multiple figure composition as a mature artist. Simply, it depicts the Seven Deadly Sins in interaction with each other. From left to right: Anger, with a knife, threatens Greed, who is picking a dollar from his pocket. Sloth is asleep, Gluttony is eating, and Envy is jealously admiring Pride. Pride is admiring herself while Lust gropes her.I’d been interested in the idea of a roomful of these sins as some depiction of an environment bereft of any morals. Just as much, though, I was up to the challenge of mastering the multiple figure composition, and this, as much as anything, fed my interest in the subject.
