Narcissist

In Greek mythology Narcissus was so enamored of his own reflection that he stared at it in the water until he took root and became a flower. Hence the narcissus flower, and the term “Narcissist.” Here I bring a new perspective to the myth to the narcissist. Enamored with himself, and imagining himself to be a pretty flower, his high ideals are about to bring him to cutting his own throat. We've all known a few.

The composition here is very much the same as in "Conversion," and both involve contorted reflections. Below is a list of paintings that feature mirrors and reflections.

Return to "the Narcissist."

(Paintings that feature revealing mirrored reflections are "Conversion," "the Narcissist," "Her Ghost," "Hugging a Vampire," "Villana," and "Dog Fight.")
