Condwiramurs

In the Arthurian writing "Perceval" by Wolfram Von Eschenbach, which involves a search for the Holy Grail, our hero, Perceval, becomes transfixed by an image in the snow where an eagle has made a kill. The blood pattern that was made on the snow seemed to him to be a depiction of the face of his wife, Condwiramurs, who he hadn't seen in a good long time. It's a simple little painting for a simple little story, or detail of a story.

I think that I was actually influenced by a movie about Queen Elizabeth, where her face, at the end, seems to be pure white. Combining that with the story of the vision of Condwiramurs is what spawned this painting.
