Youth and Old Age

Initially inspired by some paintings by Otto Dix, I basically wanted to contrast the health and attractiveness, and the lack of, between the figures. Some have read a sexual situation into the painting due to the nudity, but it would not have sufficed to have used clothed figures, being that it was the contrast between the figures themselves that was my interest.

The old woman focuses only on the young girl, as if coveting her youth. The younger is not yet obsessed by these matters, and peers past the other and out the window, distracted by the thought that something might be going on that she wants to be a part of.
